Welcome
From our Head of Middle School
From our Head of Middle School
As Head of Middle School at Hills Adventist College, I feel blessed to be part of a thriving, Christ-centred community dedicated to nurturing students today, preparing them for tomorrow, and shaping their character for eternity. Our Middle School program fosters academic excellence, spiritual growth, and personal development, helping students discover their unique gifts and identity in Christ.
In our assemblies, we have explored how the hope we have in Jesus equips us for every need, as promised in Philippians 4:19. This hope empowers students to live out our College values, fostering compassion, strong relationships, and a deep sense of belonging. Through Homeroom, Wellbeing programs, and Chapel services, students develop their talents, strengthen their faith, and contribute to our culture of excellence.
Rooted in Philippians 4:8, our Excellence Program recognises acts of service, admirable character, and positive contributions, reminding us that true excellence is found in Jesus Christ. We also encourage hands-on learning through enriching excursionsβYear 6 recently explored the zoo, Year 7 participated in a Bible-themed activity camp, and Year 5 eagerly anticipates their history-focused camp in Bathurst.
At Hills, we are committed to equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and faith to navigate the future with confidence. Our project-based learning approach encourages critical thinking, collaboration, and real-world application. Above all, we celebrate each student as a unique child of God and strive to build a community rooted in love, respect, and faith. It is our prayer that every student grows into the person God has called them to be.
May you all enjoy a restful and joyful holiday break, filled with Godβs blessings. I look forward to seeing everyone refreshed and ready for Term 2!
Blessings,
Mrs Alana Brinsmead
Head of Middle School

Chaplains Corner
As we head into the Easter holidays, Iβm reminded of how powerful this time of year can beβnot just as a time to rest and recharge, but as a moment to reflect on what truly matters.
Easter is the heart of the Christian story. It reminds us that even in the darkest momentsβwhen it feels like all hope is lostβGod is still at work. The resurrection of Jesus is a powerful declaration that love is stronger than death, that grace is bigger than our failures, and that there is always a new beginning waiting to unfold.
As a school community, weβve been through a lot together. Weβve shared in challenges, celebrated achievements, and supported one another through the ups and downs of the term. Community is one of Godβs greatest gifts. Itβs in the simple thingsβencouraging words, shared laughter, a helping handβthat we see glimpses of Godβs love.
So as you head into the holidays, take the time to rest, be present with those you love, and remember this: there is a God who loves you deeply, just as you are. You are never alone.
Wishing you and your family a joyful and peaceful Easter.
Grace and peace,
Pastor Jonny

Easter Hat Parade

Our Easter Hat Parades at both the Castle Hill Campus and the Junior School at Kellyville Campus were full of colour, creativity and joy! Students proudly paraded their incredible hat creations, each reflecting one of three themes: Resurrection Celebration , Fruits of the Spirit , or The Good Samaritan . From butterflies and baby chicks to hearts, helping hands and meaningful messages, the hats were a wonderful expression of the meaning of Easter, celebrating new life, kindness and joy. It was fantastic to see students enjoying the parade and to welcome so many parents and friends who came along to support. A big thank you to our students and families for making it such a special event!

Wellbeing Window
Caring Through Caterpillars
Caring Through Caterpillars

During Wellbeing Week, our Kellyville Junior School students were captivated by the magic of nature as they closely observed some incredible caterpillars. With awe and excitement, they watched one transform before their eyesβfirst into a chrysalis, then spin its delicate cocoon. Some students bravely held the tiny creatures, marvelling at their movements and the way their little mouths worked to munch on leaves.
This experience sparked meaningful discussions about respectβnot just for our parents, teachers, and friends, but also for the world around us. We reflected on Godβs call for us to be stewards of His creation, caring for all creatures, big and small, and protecting the spaces they need to thrive.

Kindergarten Celebrates the Letter P with Pyjama Day!
Kindergarten Celebrates the Letter P with Pyjama Day!

Kindergarten had a fantastic time celebrating the letter P with a special Pyjama Day in Weeks 8 and 9. On this fun-filled day, we came to school dressed in our pyjamas, or in pink or purple, and enjoyed a range of exciting activities all centred around the letter P.
We listened to stories about Pyjama Day, wrote sentences and words about our experiences, and created mini versions of ourselves wearing pyjamas. We also took part in a variety of 'P' themed activities and capped off the day with a delicious pancake feast after lunch.
It was a memorable and joyful way to celebrate our learningβKindy had an amazing time exploring the letter P!

Today our Kβ2 students laced up their runners and brought their energy to the Castle Hill Campus for a fun-filled Cross Country event! It was a beautiful, sunny dayβperfect for getting outdoors and hitting the track.
With big smiles and even bigger determination, the kids ran their hearts out, cheered each other on, and showed great sportsmanship every step of the way. From speedy sprints to joyful jogs, it was all about having a go and enjoying the sunshine.
A huge well done to all our little runners!

Year 3 - Biblical Drama
Year 3 - Biblical Drama

Year Three has thoroughly enjoyed our Biblical Drama time, leading up to a full-class Bible drama presented in chapel. This special production focused on placing our trust in God, drawing from Joshuaβs experience in Jericho. The story highlighted how the Israelites faithfully followed God's plan, demonstrating perseverance and obedience. Key themes such as accountability and integrity were brought to life through Joshuaβs leadership and Rahabβs courageous protection.
Their excitement during practices and the students' growth reminded me why I love what I do. Watching them develop confidence, mastery, and a passion for learning more about our Heavenly Father has been a blessing.
KNOW Waste Incursion
KNOW Waste Incursion

In Week 8, our Junior School students had an exciting opportunity to take part in the "Know Your Waste" incursion. Kindergarten explored the idea of litter with the theme "Litter, Litter Everywhere!" , while Stage 1 delved into different materials and the recycling process. Stage 2 took things further, learning about natureβs own recycling systems.
Through fun, hands-on activities, students not only had a great time but also gained important insights into waste management and caring for the environment. The experience sparked their curiosity and encouraged them to think more deeply about how they can help create a cleaner, greener planet.
Nyra in 2B said, βI learnt which rubbish belongs in which bin.β
Gaurish in 2B shared, βI learnt how paper is recycled and made.β

Our Kβ4 students recently dove headfirst into a world of numbers, logic, and excitement as they celebrated World Maths Day at Hills Adventist College!
From challenging escape rooms to high-energy Mathletics Live activities, the day was packed with hands-on puzzles, brain games, and international competitions that had every student thinking, strategising, and smiling. The atmosphere was buzzing as students tackled maths in creative and collaborative ways, proving that learning can be both fun and inspiring.
Weβre thrilled to share that Hills Adventist College is currently ranked 29th globally and 13th in Australia in the Mathletics World Maths Day challenge. What an incredible achievement for our young minds!
It was amazing to see so many students embrace the challenge with such enthusiasm. Their passion for maths shone through as they worked together, solved problems, and celebrated their achievements. This event not only highlighted their skills but also their ability to collaborate and think outside the box.
Weβre so proud of our students for their hard work and positive attitudes. Go Hills!

Year 6 - Run Club

One of our Year 6 students, Anna, is an avid runner who has proudly represented our school at both Hills Zone and State levels. Most recently, she placed first in her age group at the Hills Zone Triathlon.
Keen to share her passion, Anna came up with the fantastic idea of starting a Run Club at the Castle Hill Campus. The initiative was so popular that enrolments had to be capped! Each Wednesday afternoon, students eagerly participated in fun drills, running sessions, and games to build their skills and confidence.
Anna wasnβt the only one who benefited from this leadership opportunity. She enlisted the support of fellow Year 6 students Anya, Tea, and Charlotte, who all did a brilliant job leading small groups and supporting the sessions.
Anna charged a small enrolment fee, using the funds to purchase prizes that helped keep students motivated and engaged. She also plans to donate any leftover funds to charity.
We congratulate Anna on her successful initiative and thank her for enriching our school community with her leadership and generosity.

Year 8 - Tut Roadshow

Year 8 students are currently studying Ancient Egypt in History, and last week they enjoyed an unforgettable experience with the Tut Roadshow. This immersive event gave them the chance to step back in time and engage with the wonders of Ancient Egypt firsthand.
Students βenteredβ King Tutβs tomb, exploring its secrets and wall paintings, and viewed fascinating artefacts inside a specially converted truck that brought the world of ancient Egypt to life through a cinematic experience.
Highlights of the day included learning to draw in the traditional Egyptian style, creating seals, and exploring the intriguing world of ancient skulls and writings. The hands-on activities made the rich history of Ancient Egypt tangible, giving students a deeper appreciation and understanding of this incredible civilisation.

Coffee Cart Supports Solomon Islands
Coffee Cart Supports Solomon Islands

Every second Thursday, Year 11 students are running a coffee cart fundraiser to raise money for water tanks in the Solomon Islands. Many communities there face limited access to clean water, and the tanks will help improve daily life, hygiene, and health.
Alongside hot drinks, students also sell homemade cupcakes, adding a sweet treat to the cause. The cart has quickly become a regular highlight at school, offering something delicious while raising awareness about global water issues.
All proceeds go directly towards purchasing and delivering the tanks. The initiative reflects the studentsβ commitment to making a real-world impactβone cup (and cupcake) at a time.

What a fantastic day we had on Friday, 4th April , for our Market Day ! The weather was absolutely perfect, and our Commerce students from Year 9 and 10 truly outdid themselves with their business stalls. From delicious food to fun games, there was something for everyone to enjoy.
A huge thank you to all the teachers and Chaplains who supported the students and helped make the day such a success. The hard work and creativity of our students shone through, with a range of mouth-watering treats on offer, including juicy burgers, tasty tacos, sausage sizzles, and refreshing lemonade. And thatβs not all β there were also cake pops, pizza, frozen yoghurt, and even chocolate strawberries to satisfy every sweet tooth!
The day was made even more exciting by a Splash Frenzy , where students had a blast cooling off and splashing around β adding to the fun-filled atmosphere.
It was a wonderful opportunity to support our talented Commerce students as they showcased their entrepreneurial skills. We hope everyone who attended had a blast enjoying the fantastic food, games, and overall vibe. Thank you to all who came out to support the students and made the day one to remember!

Year 11 and 12 Visual Arts students recently visited the Art Gallery of NSW, where they explored ARTEXPRESS and Cao Feiβs immersive installation My City is Yours .
Students were captivated by the depth of creativity on display in ARTEXPRESS, which showcased a diverse range of outstanding HSC artworks. They also had the opportunity to hear valuable insights and advice from some of the featured artists.
Cao Feiβs My City is Yours offered a thought-provoking exploration of urban identity and transformation through a contemporary lens. The exhibition sparked rich discussions around artistic practice and conceptual storytelling, deepening students' understanding of contemporary artmaking.
It was an inspiring and invaluable experience that will no doubt influence their own creative journeys!
Year 12 - Pompeii Excursion
Year 12 - Pompeii Excursion

In Week 8, the Year 12 Ancient Historians travelled to the National Museum of Australia in Canberra to visit the "Pompeii: Inside a Lost City" exhibition. All HSC Ancient History students study Pompeii and Herculaneum as it is the core topic for Year 12. It was a long day, but such a great experience for the students to see artefacts from the city.
The exhibition was divided into two sections: one focused on artefacts from everyday life, and the other on excavations. Only two-thirds of Pompeii has been excavated, so there is still much to discover about the city. The beauty and craftsmanship of some of the objects was remarkable. It was also fascinating to see the plaster casts (replicas) of some of the victims. Mount Vesuvius erupted every 15 minutes, in a time-lapse simulation of the 24 hours the eruption actually lasted.
"The excursion was an amazing experience, and it was incredible to see the artefacts in person. The experience made me feel as though I was in Pompeii when it was happening. One of my favourite parts of the excursion was the Mount Vesuvius simulation experience." (Charlotte, Year 12)
