Head of Castle Hill Campus
There is a real sense of energy across our College at the moment, as students embrace new challenges, discover their strengths and continue to grow in confidence. This is especially evident as students prepare for important learning milestones and upcoming mid-year examinations.
As we move into the middle of the year, I am continually encouraged by the perseverance and commitment shown by our students. With assessments, examinations and key learning milestones on the horizon, this is a time that calls for focus, discipline and resilience. Across our College, students are responding with a willingness to work hard, to keep going when things feel challenging and to make the most of the opportunities before them.
Dear College Families,
As we come to the close of an incredibly busy term, we take a moment to reflect with thankful hearts on all that has taken place across our college. It has been a full and vibrant time, with rich learning in our classrooms, engaging co-curricular opportunities and special events that have brought our community together. While the pace has certainly been fast, it has also been deeply rewarding to witness the enthusiasm of our students and the dedication of our staff in every aspect of school life.
Amidst the busyness, we have seen countless reminders of God’s presence and blessing. From the joy and laughter shared across the playground to the perseverance shown in learning and the care demonstrated within our community, God has continued to guide and sustain us. We are so grateful for His provision, granting us strength when we are weary, unity as we work together and joy in the everyday moments that make our college such a special place.
As we look ahead, we are reminded to pause and give thanks for all that He has done and continues to do. May we carry this spirit of gratitude with us and trust in His ongoing guidance.
“The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.”
— Psalm 126:3
May this break be a time to slow down, reflect, and be renewed in body, mind and spirit.

Chaplain's Corner
Chaplain's Corner
This term, our Junior School students have been taking part in Pastor Josh’s Memory Verse Challenge! The challenge was pretty simple: memorise Ephesians 2:10 and recite it to me for a reward. The reward may have been a lollipop, but what the students gained was way more valuable.
I have been genuinely amazed by the response. Students from across the Junior School eagerly took up the challenge, with many memorising the verse surprisingly quickly. Throughout the term, students have approached me in the playground, before school, after chapel and during break times, excited to share the verse they had committed to memory.
The verse we chose was Ephesians 2:10:
"For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."
This verse was selected because it connects closely with our chapel theme for the term: God's Unexpected Heroes . Throughout our Junior, Middle and Senior School chapels, we have been exploring the stories of ordinary or outright unexpected people whom God used in extraordinary ways. Again and again, we see that God doesn't simply look for the strongest, smartest or most talented people. He works through willing hearts.
Ephesians 2:10 reminds us that every student has been created with purpose. Each child is God's handiwork, uniquely designed and loved by Him. Just as God used unexpected heroes throughout the Bible, He continues to work through ordinary people today, including the students in our school.
While the lollipops may have provided a little motivation, my hope is that the words of this verse will stay with our students long after the treats are gone. God's Word is a treasure worth keeping, and it has been a joy to see so many young people enthusiastically hiding it in their hearts.
So, if you have never memorised a Bible verse, give this one a try and see if you can. You won’t regret it.
A huge congratulations to all the students who took part in the challenge. I am incredibly proud of the effort, enthusiasm and dedication they have shown. I need to buy a lot more lollipops!

Junior School Athletics Carnival
Junior School Athletics Carnival
Our Kindergarten to Year 4 students enjoyed a fantastic day of fun, fitness and friendly competition at the Junior School Athletics Carnival, held at AH Whaling Reserve, Baulkham Hills, on Tuesday, 9 June.
Throughout the day, students enthusiastically participated in a range of track and field events, demonstrating great sportsmanship, resilience and encouragement for one another. It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces as students challenged themselves, celebrated personal achievements and cheered on their classmates.
A highlight of the carnival was the much-anticipated staff race, where teachers and staff members took to the track dressed in inflatable costumes, much to the delight of our students. Adding to the excitement, our very own College Principal, Mrs Carlie Deppeler, joined in the fun in a bright yellow inflatable rooster suit (see photo below!), proving that a little friendly competition is enjoyed by everyone.
Thank you to our dedicated staff, volunteers and families for their support in making the day such a success. Most importantly, congratulations to all of our Junior School students for their enthusiasm, determination and outstanding sportsmanship. We are so proud of the way they represented our College.

Our College community came together for Adventist Education Mufti Day, showing the compassion and generosity that are at the heart of Adventist Education.
Students arrived dressed in bright colours, while our youngest learners in the Early Learning Centre (ELC) created heartfelt notes of encouragement. Together, our community raised an incredible $1,780 to support a much-loved teacher who previously taught at Hills Adventist College and is now part of the team at Hurstville Adventist School.
Thank you to everyone who donated and took part. Your kindness and generosity will make a real difference and are a wonderful reflection of the caring spirit that unites our Adventist school community.

National Simultaneous Storytime
National Simultaneous Storytime

Our Kellyville and Castle Hill campuses celebrated the 2026 National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) on Wednesday, 27 May, by joining the live-watch reading of Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller , written by football veterans Adam Jackson and Adrian Lloyd.
A record-breaking 2.28 million participants took part in the NSS this year, with the event aiming to promote the value of reading and literacy, using an Australian children's book that explores age-appropriate themes, and addressing key learning areas of the National Curriculum.
Luna Roo is an energetic sports story about an underdog kangaroo who learns to overcome nerves and believe in her teammates. The text was a perfect fit alongside the ongoing World Cup celebrations, with the story proving that even the most football-mad individuals can find joy in a great book!
Don’t forget that all students can add Luna Roo to their Premier’s Reading Challenge (PRC) record this year (PRC #754441).

Guide Dogs Incursion
Guide Dogs Incursion

Abbey and Nichola visited from Guide Dogs NSW. Abbey has tunnel vision and uses her guide dog, Duke, to assist her in everyday life. She works for Guide Dogs and teaches people how to use technology to support them. Abbey demonstrated how her phone reads aloud whatever she touches on the screen. She also showed the children how Braille works—a system of raised dots that she can read with her fingers. Abbey demonstrated taking a photo and having her phone describe the image to her, which helps her understand her surroundings.
Nichola also talked about her job, which includes teaching people with vision impairments how to catch trains and buses, and helping them feel confident moving around outside their homes using tools such as a walking cane.
The children were told they could only pat Duke when his special harness was off, because then he knew he wasn't working and became a pet. They enjoyed being able to pat him at the end of the session.

Wackadoo! Kindergarten Meets Bluey

Kindergarten ventured to the iconic Sydney Opera House to watch Bluey's Big Play . Students were thrilled to travel on a big bus and drive across the Sydney Harbour Bridge on the way to the city. We enjoyed eating our lunch on the Opera House steps and were blessed with beautiful sunny weather.
The performance was filled with laughter and excitement as we met Bluey, Bingo, Chilli, Bandit and their neighbour, Lucky's Dad. One of the students' favourite moments was watching Bluey and Bingo drive their car while dressed as grannies! We also had great fun joining in a real-life game of "Keepy Uppy" with bubbles and balloons, creating a memorable end to a wonderful day.

The students proudly presented their shelters to the class, explaining how they would keep their chosen animal safe. We were so impressed by their creativity, confidence and fantastic effort throughout the project. Well done, Kindy!
Year 2 Magnet Magic
Year 2 Magnet Magic

Year 2 students from our Kellyville and Castle Hill campuses enjoyed a fun-filled Science incursion led by Mrs Reid, where they explored the fascinating world of magnets.
Students put their new knowledge into action by using magnets to "catch" Freddo Frogs and discovered how to move a paperclip around a figure-eight track without touching it—simply by guiding it with a magnet underneath the paper plate! The hands-on activities made learning engaging, exciting and memorable.
A big thank you to Mrs Reid for making Science so much fun!

Botanic Gardens Excursion

On Monday, Year 3 and 4 students had a wonderful time visiting the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney in the city. It was a clear, sunny day, perfect for exploring the beautiful gardens and enjoying the fresh air.
During the visit, students took part in exciting activities with their guides. They learned about native plants such as lemon myrtle and prickly pear and discovered how plants are used in different ways. Students also explored Aboriginal traditions and learned about the arrival of the First Fleet, connecting history, geography and science in a meaningful way.
One of the highlights of the day was building their own gunyah , which helped students understand how traditional shelters were made and used.
It was a fun and educational day, and all students represented the College well while enjoying everything the gardens had to offer.

Year 11 & 12 Legal Studies Students Experience the Law in Action

Year 11 and Year 12 Legal Studies students recently took part in a highly valuable excursion into the Sydney CBD, providing them with the opportunity to experience the Australian legal system firsthand.
The day began with a visit to NSW Parliament, where students participated in the Legal Studies and the Legislature Program . Through a guided workshop, interactive activities and a tour of Parliament House, students deepened their understanding of the legislative process and how laws are made in practice. A highlight for many was the opportunity to take part in a simulated parliamentary role play, bringing their classroom learning to life.
Students were also fortunate to witness a parliamentary committee in action, offering a rare and authentic insight into how scrutiny and accountability operate within government. This real-world exposure significantly enriched their understanding of the role committees play in shaping legislation and public policy.
In the afternoon, students walked to the Downing Centre Courts, where they observed Local and District Court proceedings. This was an invaluable experience, allowing students to see legal principles, courtroom procedure and the roles of legal professionals in a real-world context. Students witnessed the seriousness of the court environment and gained a deeper appreciation of the justice system in action.
Throughout the day, students represented the College with maturity and respect, particularly within the formal settings of Parliament and the courts. Their conduct ensured a positive experience for all involved and reflected the high expectations of our learning community.
This excursion provided a meaningful opportunity for students to connect theory with practice, strengthening their understanding of the legal system and its role in society.
