Welcome
From the Head of Middle School
From the Head of Middle School
Middle School at Hills Adventist College is designed to support students during the important early adolescent years where we aim to bridge the gap between Junior and Senior School. These years are a time of rapid growth—academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually—and our Middle School structure aims to guide students through this season with care and purpose.
Alongside classroom learning, a key part of this journey is the shared experiences students have with one another. Going through experiences together—whether moments of joy or challenge, success or struggle, laughter or hard work—creates a powerful sense of connection. Shared experiences provide common ground and help students develop an understanding of one another that cannot always be taught directly.
These experiences are important because they help students:
Build trust , as they learn to rely on one another
Develop empathy , by recognising and understanding shared feelings
Create lasting memories , which strengthen relationships over time
Break down barriers , as differences feel smaller when faced together
Develop a sense of belonging , knowing they are part of something larger than themselves
We see this pattern throughout life. Bonding through shared effort, families growing through milestones, friendships strengthened through fun, and communities united through challenge. Shared experiences build relationships between individuals, and relationships into connected communities.
This year, I have had the privilege of joining both our Year 5 and Year 7 Middle School camps, which are strong examples of shared experiences in action. The time spent away from routine allows students to practise teamwork, problem‑solving, service, independence, and leadership, while forming deeper connections with both peers and staff. The memories and relationships built during camp often remain long after students return home and play a meaningful role in their ongoing development.
Together, our Middle School structure and experiences such as camp work hand‑in‑hand to help students grow in confidence, resilience, and character. We are ultimately guided in this journey by our Middle School verse:
“For I know the plans I have for you… plans to give you hope and a future”
(Jeremiah 29:11).

Chaplains Corner
Chaplains Corner
A few weeks back, I decided to try something I'd never really committed to before — fasting. Honestly, I wasn't sure what to expect. I knew it would be challenging, and sure enough, by mid-morning on day one, I was already thinking about food far more than usual. But something interesting happened in those moments of discomfort: I found myself turning to prayer instead of the fridge. And that, I discovered, was kind of the whole point.
Fasting is one of the oldest spiritual disciplines in the Christian tradition. It's not about punishing yourself or proving something — it's about creating space. When we remove something we normally rely on, we're reminded of our deeper need and dependence on God. For me, it was genuinely challenging, but also genuinely rewarding in a way that surprised me.
I share this not to suggest everyone should fast straight away, but to encourage you to consider trying something new in your faith journey this term. Maybe that's fasting. Maybe it's waking up ten minutes earlier to read a Psalm, journalling a prayer, or simply sitting in silence for a few moments each day. The specifics matter less than the intention behind them — drawing closer to Jesus.
Faith isn't meant to be static. It grows when we stretch, experiment, and sometimes step into a little discomfort.
I'd love to chat with anyone curious about spiritual disciplines or what it looks like to grow in faith practically. You know where to find me!

College News
Anzac Day Chapel
Anzac Day Chapel

Our ANZAC Day Chapel service was a respectful and reflective time for the College community to honour the courage and sacrifice of those who have served in the armed forces.
Some of our students served as flagbearers in their Pathfinder uniforms, adding a strong sense of tradition and respect to the service. Special musical items also helped create a reflective atmosphere.
We were privileged to hear from guest speaker Flight Lieutenant Cameron , who shared insights into service, leadership, and the meaning of ANZAC Day in today’s Australian Defence Force.
The service was a meaningful tribute, reminding us of the values of courage, mateship, and sacrifice.
Dawn Service - Lest We Forget
Dawn Service - Lest We Forget

Our student leaders recently attended the ANZAC Day Dawn Service at Castle Hill RSL, representing the College community in a solemn act of remembrance.
College Captains from both the Kellyville and Castle Hill campuses attended, along with Mrs Lolohea (Head of Senior School) and Mrs Camilo (Head of Castle Hill Campus), standing alongside the wider community to honour the courage and sacrifice of Australian and New Zealand service personnel.
The early morning service was a powerful and reflective experience, marked by silence, remembrance, and gratitude. Our student leaders and staff represented the school with great respect and dignity throughout the occasion.
It was a meaningful opportunity to pause and reflect on the ANZAC legacy, reinforcing the values of courage, service, and mateship within our College community.
Multicultural Day
Multicultural Day

Today, students at the Kellyville campus came together to celebrate Multicultural Day with food stalls, cultural dances, and music from around the world. We had stalls representing cultures from Chile, Italy, the Middle East, India, China, South Africa, Australia, and many more, highlighting the diversity within our college community.
A special thank you to the parents and families who prepared the delicious food, and to all the teachers, staff, and volunteers who helped make the day possible.
We now look forward to the Castle Hill campus celebrating their Multicultural Day in June.

Kellyville STORMco Makes the Front Cover

The Kellyville STORMCo team was recently featured on the front page ( click here to view ) of the Warren & Nyngan Weekly, with a full-page story highlighting this year’s program and the team’s long connection with the Nyngan community.
STORMCo (Service To Others Really Matters) is a Christian service initiative that gives students the opportunity to support regional communities through children’s programs, practical service, community activities, and relationship building. Each year, students and staff travel to Nyngan to serve alongside the local community and church.
This year’s trip was almost cancelled, but in a wonderful show of support, the Mayor of Nyngan personally helped make it happen.
The program continues to be a meaningful partnership between the church and school communities, with students and staff receiving several shoutouts throughout the article.
A big thank you to Roshelle Fraser for all the work she does each year to bring STORMCo together for both the school and the church.

Mother's Day Celebration
Mother's Day Celebration

Our College community recently came together to celebrate Mother’s Day with special breakfasts and stalls at both our Kellyville and Castle Hill campuses.
These events provided a wonderful opportunity for families to spend quality time together and recognise the love, care, and support of the mums and mother-figures in our community. Students enjoyed selecting thoughtful gifts from the Mother’s Day stalls, creating special surprises for their loved ones.
A highlight of the celebrations was the floral-making craft station, where children enthusiastically designed and created beautiful handmade floral gifts. Many students proudly presented their creations to their mums and mother-figures, adding a personal and heartfelt touch to the occasion.
The breakfasts were filled with joy, conversation, and a strong sense of community as families gathered to celebrate the important role mothers and mother-figures play in our lives.
We would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Home and School team for their organisation and support, as well as to all the volunteers who generously gave their time to help make these celebrations possible. Your efforts were greatly appreciated and contributed to the success of both events.

Science Fair 2026
Science Fair 2026

The Family Science Fair 2026 provided students from Kindergarten to Year 6 across both campuses with a fantastic opportunity to explore science through curiosity, critical thinking, and hands-on investigation.
Students and families participated by presenting projects in either report or experiment format, showcasing their scientific understanding, creativity, and enthusiasm for learning. The event highlighted the effort students put into extending their learning beyond the classroom.
The Science Fair continues to be a valuable experience for students across the College, encouraging them to share their discoveries and develop their skills in scientific inquiry.

Year 11 Leadership in Networking and Chapel

Year 11 students led a series of networking activities for Year 7 during Extended Home Room, using fun, team-based games to help younger students build connections, develop friendships, and feel more comfortable within the school community. Their leadership created a welcoming and supportive environment where Year 7s were encouraged to participate and engage with confidence.
In Chapel, Year 11 students also took on key leadership roles by leading the welcome and ice breaker. Their energy and initiative helped set a positive tone and encouraged whole-group participation.
These opportunities highlight the important role Year 11 students play in strengthening community across year levels while developing their own leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.

Drop Off Reminder
Drop Off Reminder

Please remember students should not be dropped off before 8:00am, as supervision is not available prior to this time. The only exception is for students connecting with a College bus service.
All students are expected to be at school by 8:25am to allow time to settle, organise materials, and line up ready for classes to begin at 8:30am. Students arriving after 8:25am must go through the front office to collect a late note.
Being on time supports student wellbeing and helps develop positive social skills such as responsibility and organisation.
This applies to both the Castle Hill and Kellyville campuses. Thank you for your support.
E-Bike Safety
E-Bike Safety

NSW Police have raised concerns about unsafe e-bike use and young drivers.
Recent incidents highlight the risks of illegally modified e-bikes, which are often ridden by students but are classed as motor vehicles if they exceed legal limits. This means they must be registered and ridden by licensed riders. There are also serious safety and fire risks.
A recent crash involving a 17-year-old driving a prohibited high-powered vehicle also highlights the need for parental awareness of licence restrictions.
We encourage parents to ensure their child’s e-bike or vehicle is legal and safe, and to check P-plate restrictions here:

Thank you for your support.
