Welcome

Head of Senior School

Head of Senior School

There is a real sense of energy across our College at the moment, as students embrace new challenges, discover their strengths, and continue to grow in confidence. This is especially evident as students prepare for important learning milestones and upcoming mid year examinations.

As we move into the middle of the year, I am continually encouraged by the perseverance and commitment shown by our students. With assessments, examinations, and key learning milestones on the horizon, this is a time that calls for focus, discipline, and resilience. Across our College, students are responding with a willingness to work hard, to keep going when things feel challenging, and to make the most of the opportunities before them.

At Hills Adventist College, we believe that each student has been gifted by God with unique abilities and strengths. These gifts are developed not simply through success, but through perseverance, effort, and a mindset that embraces growth. It is often in the more demanding seasons that character is strengthened, confidence is built, and a deeper sense of purpose begins to take shape.

I am proud of the way our students are applying themselves, not only in their learning, but also in how they support one another, engage with their teachers, and contribute positively to our community. Their commitment to doing their best and using their God given strengths is something we celebrate and give thanks for.

We are grateful for the partnership we share with families in supporting our young people. It is a privilege to walk alongside them as they learn, grow, and continue to develop into the individuals God has called them to be.

Chaplains Corner

Chaplains Corner

This term in chapel we are learning about “unexpected people God used” from the Bible. But here is the thing – ALL the people who God used were the least likely of the group.

- God called Moses to speak on behalf of his people’s freedom – but he had a stutter (and a criminal record)
- God used Jonah to save a city – but first he ran away from God and didn’t want to obey
- God called Peter to start the church – but he was impulsive, spoke before thinking, and even denied knowing Jesus
- God chose Mary to bear the child of Jesus Christ – but she was a young, ordinary girl from a small, unimportant town

I love being able to share God’s value system with our students, and it constantly reminds me to look at others with God’s eyes. We are often so quick to make assumptions but remembering that we don’t know the whole story behind another person’s outward actions helps me pause my judgement and give a little more grace.

1 Samuel 16:7b “The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”

May we all learn to see others with God’s eyes; to see value and worth in those that often feel looked over, to not hold past mistakes against seeing future potential, and encouraging our students to pursue character over appearance.

National Simultaneous Storytime

National Simultaneous Storytime

National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) 2026 brought together millions of participants across Australia and beyond to celebrate the joy of reading, using Luna Roo: the Kangaroo Baller as the official story, a book that highlights courage, teamwork and a love of sport.

Castle Hill Campus students proudly joined in this nationwide event, sharing in the experience of storytelling and connection while demonstrating enthusiasm and a strong sense of community. We extend our sincere thanks to our librarian, Mrs Carol Hidalgo, for organising such a meaningful experience for our students.

The Early Learning Centre Celebrate 20 Years

Hills Adventist College ELC 20th Anniversary

We recently celebrated a significant milestone with the Early Learning Centre’s 20 year anniversary! The celebration brought together special guests including the Deputy Mayor, State MP Mark Hodges, Dr Jean Carter from Avondale University, and Greater Sydney Schools executive staff, as we reflected on the journey and impact of the ELC over two decades. A highlight of the event was sealing a time capsule, capturing this moment in our story, and acknowledging the many staff whose dedication has shaped the Centre into what it is today. Throughout the celebration, we were reminded of the way God’s light continues to shine through our learning community.

We extend our sincere thanks to Elna Hale for her exceptional leadership and organisation of the event. We also acknowledge Romina Pena Vasquez for the beautiful artwork unveiled on the day.

SchoolTV - Trauma

SchoolTV - Trauma

Trauma can affect children in many different ways, impacting their emotions, behaviour, relationships, and overall wellbeing. Recognising the signs early is essential to providing the support they need to heal and thrive.

As child psychologist Dr Michael Carr-Gregg explains:

"Kids will display varying degrees of psychological trauma and this does predispose them to frequent and prolonged periods of depression, irritability, anxiety, withdrawal, sleep disturbances and, in young children, night terrors."

Junior School Goes Pink for Breast Cancer

The College community recently came together to support Pink Bun Day, raising $276.80 for breast cancer research and support services.

Students and staff enjoyed delicious pink buns, which proved incredibly popular and sold out twice throughout the day! The strong turnout reflected a wonderful sense of community spirit and generosity across the College.

Staff also showed their support by dressing in pink, helping to create a vibrant and unified atmosphere for this important cause.

It was a meaningful and engaging day that not only raised valuable funds, but also encouraged awareness, compassion, and support for those affected by breast cancer.

Year 2 Reptile Incursion with Feature Creatures

Students recently enjoyed an exciting visit from Feature Creatures as part of a hands-on reptile incursion.

They learned fascinating facts about reptiles, their habitats, and how they survive in the wild. The highlight of the day was getting up close and even gently handling some of the animals under expert supervision.

It was a fun and engaging experience that sparked curiosity and deepened students’ understanding of living things in the natural world.

Castle Hill Campus - Crazy Hair Day

Castle Hill Campus - Crazy Hair Day

Junior School was full of colour and excitement during this year’s Crazy Hair Day, as students arrived with fun and creative hairstyles. From bright sprays and glitter to wild braids and themed designs, everyone joined in to celebrate imagination and school spirit.

Teachers also took part, adding to the fun atmosphere and encouraging students to be creative and confident. Throughout the day, students shared laughs, compliments, and ideas behind their unique hairstyles.

Crazy Hair Day was also a fundraiser for Cystic Fibrosis, with students and families donating gold coins to support research and raise awareness for the condition.

The event was a great success, combining fun, creativity, and kindness, and Junior School is already looking forward to next year’s Crazy Hair Day.

Finley P – NSW PSSA Championships

Finley P. has achieved an impressive milestone in representative AFL, being selected as co-captain of the CIS AFL team. The team went on to win the championships, a fantastic result and a reflection of their hard work and teamwork throughout the competition.

Adding to this success, Finley P. has also been selected in the NSW PSSA AFL team and will go on to represent the state at the National PSSA Championships in Canberra next term.

Year 9 Visits The Lion King Musical

Year 9 Visual Arts students recently attended The Lion King musical, held at the Capitol Theatre Sydney. The excursion supported their study of public art by exposing students to a large-scale professional performance in a public cultural venue.

Students observed how set design, costumes, lighting, music, and choreography combine to create an immersive experience, helping them understand how public art communicates ideas and emotions to audiences beyond the classroom.

Drop Off Reminder - Kellyville Campus

Drop Off Reminder - Kellyville Campus

Please remember students should not be dropped off before 8:00am, as supervision is not available prior to this time. The only exception is for students connecting with a College bus service.

All students are expected to be at school by 8:25am to allow time to settle, organise materials, and line up ready for classes to begin at 8:30am. Students arriving after 8:25am must go through the front office to collect a late note.

Being on time supports student wellbeing and helps develop positive social skills such as responsibility and organisation.

This applies to both the Castle Hill and Kellyville campuses. Thank you for your support.
