Welcome
Head of Middle School - Kellyville Campus
Head of Middle School - Kellyville Campus
As we are rapidly approaching the end of a busy term, we know that effective communication is one of the most important foundations of a positive learning community. When students, staff and families communicate with kindness, respect and understanding, relationships are strengthened, concerns are addressed constructively, and everyone feels valued and supported. This aligns with our College commitment to communication that reflects care, accountability and restoration, helping us work together towards positive outcomes.
One way we can become better communicators is by recognising that people often approach conversations through different ways of thinking. Some are people thinkers, focusing on relationships, feelings and connection. Others are process thinkers, valuing structure, detail and clarity. Possibility thinkers are often energised by ideas, innovation and future opportunities, while results thinkers tend to focus on goals, outcomes and action. Understanding these different ways of thinking can transform the way we communicate. It helps us tailor our message so others can understand it more effectively, and it reminds us that people may interpret the same information differently.
The idea of communicating can be captured in a quote from the television series Ted Lasso: “Be curious, not judgmental.” As a community, we grow when we communicate with empathy and curiosity. By approaching conversations with curiosity, we become better listeners and communicators. Seeking to understand how others think and receive information helps build stronger relationships, reduce misunderstandings and create a culture where everyone has the opportunity to learn, belong and thrive. Judgement can create barriers, while curiosity builds bridges.
Together, let us continue to communicate in ways that reflect respect, understanding and care for one another, choosing curiosity over judgement as we strengthen our positive learning community.

Chaplain's Corner
Chaplain's Corner
What an incredible few weeks it has been in the life of our school! We have been richly blessed through our Weeks of Worship (WOW), seeing students and staff come together to explore faith, ask meaningful questions and grow in their understanding of God.
Our Junior School WOW was a wonderful time of learning and discovery. We were privileged to have Pastor Josh Stadnik share with our younger students around the theme “Building Faith”. Through engaging messages and activities, our juniors were encouraged to consider what it means to build their lives on a strong foundation of faith and trust in God.
Our Middle and Senior School students then experienced an equally powerful week with Pastor Robby Morgan, who explored the theme “Faith Under Construction”. This timely message reminded us that faith is a journey—we are all works in progress, and God continues to shape, grow and build us throughout every season of life.
One of the highlights of our Middle and Senior School WOW was seeing over 250 students actively involved in helping make the week possible. Their enthusiasm, leadership, creativity and willingness to serve contributed enormously to the energy and success of the program.
We are incredibly grateful for the fun, laughter, worship, conversations and connections shared across these weeks. Most importantly, it has been a joy to see both students and staff learning more about God and discovering how faith can make a real difference in our everyday lives.
May God continue to build our faith as we trust that He is still at work in each one of us.
“For we are God’s handiwork...” —Ephesians 2:10

House Culture Day
House Culture Day

Bright colours and house pride were on display for House Culture Day 2026, with Middle and Senior School students at our Kellyville campus taking a break from their regular classes on 1 September for an afternoon of fun and friendly competition.
Students competed in a wide range of activities, including basketball, volleyball, soccer, lawn and giant games, e-games, Just Dance, table tennis, board games, Gagaball, scavenger hunts, tug of war and more, with house points, bragging rights and the 2026 House Culture Day Trophy on the line.
A big thank you to our student leaders, who invested countless hours planning, organising and running the event, as well as the staff and volunteers who supported them, and the Year 5–12 students who embraced the day by dressing up and getting involved in the activities.
Competition remained close throughout the afternoon, with Phillip House extending their advantage to take home the trophy and the title of 2026 House Culture Day Champions. Congratulations!

Celebrating Our Dads

Our College recently celebrated the special dads, granddads and father-figures in our community with two wonderful Father’s Day events.
Kellyville Campus celebrated on Monday with a special breakfast BBQ, games, coffee and good conversation, bringing families together for a relaxed morning of fun and connection.
On Tuesday, Castle Hill continued the celebrations with lawn games, a BBQ and plenty of opportunities for families to enjoy time together.
A big thank you to our Home & School Association and everyone who helped make these celebrations so memorable!

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped share this important message of generosity, compassion and giving the gift of life.

From Piano Keys to Possibilities
From Piano Keys to Possibilities

For the ELC Book Week, our team dressed in black and white, inspired by the piano keys from The Bear and the Piano by David Litchfield. While simple in appearance, our costumes carried a meaningful message connected to the story's themes of curiosity, creativity, perseverance and belonging.
We recognise that every child's learning journey begins with discovery. Just as the bear's chance encounter with the piano led him to uncover a talent and passion, children develop confidence and skills when they are encouraged to explore their interests and follow their curiosity. Our dress-up theme celebrated the importance of nurturing creativity, supporting children's unique abilities, and fostering a lifelong love of learning and literacy.

R U OK? Day
R U OK? Day

This year’s R U OK? Day (10 September) was a wonderful opportunity to remind our students of the importance of checking in with one another and ensuring everyone feels seen, heard and valued. It was fantastic to see so many students wearing yellow accessories and embracing the spirit of the day. Students enjoyed a special Picnic with Friends, taking time to strengthen relationships and connections, while staff were treated to delicious cupcakes generously provided by our amazing SRC team.
Throughout the day, students were encouraged to follow the four steps: Ask “R U OK?”, Listen, Encourage Action and Check In. We also encourage families to continue these important conversations at home by discussing how they can support one another and check in with friends and loved ones. Together, we can help build a caring, connected community where everyone feels supported.
Healthy Study Habits
Healthy Study Habits

With exams approaching, developing healthy study habits can help students feel more organised, focused and confident. Effective study isn’t about spending endless hours with the books; it’s about quality, consistency and balance.
Establishing a regular study routine, taking breaks to maintain focus, and prioritising sleep, healthy food and physical activity can all help students study more effectively and avoid burnout.
This Special Report provides practical tips to support your young person as they prepare for exams and develop healthy habits that can benefit them well beyond the classroom.

Junior School Concert
Junior School Concert

Our annual Hearts and Harmony Junior School Concert was a joyful celebration of the creativity, courage and talent of our Junior School students. Bringing together students from our Castle Hill and Kellyville campuses, the evening showcased their wonderful gifts through music, dance and drama.
The concert was a beautiful reflection of the strong sense of community and collaboration at Hills Adventist College. It was wonderful to see our students step onto the stage with confidence, enthusiasm and a willingness to share their talents with others.
We sincerely thank Mrs Pinar Krajcik, Mrs Dijana Jelacic and Ms Kimberly Millar for their outstanding leadership, organisation and dedication in bringing the event to life. We also thank our dedicated teachers for encouraging, supporting and rehearsing with students throughout the preparation process, helping them grow in confidence and skill. Our appreciation also goes to the Middle and Senior School student volunteers who worked behind the scenes to help the evening run smoothly.
A heartfelt thank you to our talented students for sharing their gifts so enthusiastically, and to our parents and families for their ongoing encouragement and support. Together, we enjoyed a wonderful celebration of learning, creativity and community that truly reflected the heart of our Christ-centred learning community.

Book Week Parade
Book Week Parade

Our College came alive for Book Week 2026: ‘Symphony of Stories’, with students celebrating the joy and creativity of reading.
The highlight of the week was our College-wide Book Week Parade, where students from across the College proudly dressed as favourite book characters and brought stories to life. The day was filled with colour, creativity and plenty of smiles!
Students also enjoyed visits from children’s author Nathan Luff, who entertained and inspired students with his stories and writing tips.
The Scholastic Book Fair was another highlight, with purchases helping provide approximately 60 new books for our library.
A huge thank you to our staff, students, families and helpers for making Book Week such a wonderful celebration. We hope it continues to inspire a lifelong love of reading across our College community!

Junior School Excellence Awards
Junior School Excellence Awards

It was wonderful to see so many parents and family members gathered in Chapel on Thursday of Week 7 to celebrate our Junior School Excellence Awards. The strong support shown by our community reflects the value we place on encouraging and recognising students as they strive for personal excellence in all areas of school life.
At the conclusion of Chapel, students were presented with Bronze and Silver Excellence Awards across the Sport, Academic and Citizenship categories. These awards acknowledge the dedication, perseverance and positive contributions our students make each day, both in and beyond the classroom.
A special congratulations goes to Ria, Ruiheng and Natalia, who each achieved the prestigious Gold Sport Award. This significant milestone recognises their outstanding excellent commitment and achievement in sport carnivals, gala days and Hills Zone, and we are incredibly proud of their efforts.
We celebrate all award recipients and thank our parents for partnering with us in nurturing students who pursue excellence, demonstrate character and contribute positively to our thriving school community.
Junior School Wellbeing Week
Junior School Wellbeing Week

Our Junior School Wellbeing Week celebrated the theme of “Together We Belong”, with students given opportunities to explore how we can build a caring, inclusive and supportive community.
Drawing on messages from Bullying. No Way! and R U OK? Day, students learned three important actions: 1) NOTICE when someone may be struggling; 2) CHECK IN by asking “Are you OK?”; and 3) SPEAK UP when they experience or witness bullying.
Through engaging activities, students explored empathy, kindness, positive communication and ways to express their feelings respectfully. On Thursday, students created yellow wristbands with encouraging messages as reminders to check in with friends and reach out to others.
Together, we are creating a community where every student feels valued, supported and connected — Together We Belong.

WOW - Faith Under Construction
WOW - Faith Under Construction

The halls were louder, the smiles were bigger, and our school community came alive during this year’s Middle and Senior Week of Worship (WOW)!
WOW gave students the chance to experience something different from the usual school week, with plenty of music, activities, laughter and opportunities to connect. A huge part of the week’s success came from our students themselves, with more than 250 Middle and Senior School students getting involved to help bring everything together.
From setting up and serving to leading and participating, students embraced the opportunity to contribute and made WOW a truly community-driven event.
With Pastor Robby Morgan joining us throughout the week, students also had opportunities to engage with big questions about faith, life and their relationship with God.
It was a week filled with memorable moments, new connections and plenty of energy and a great reminder of what can happen when our school community comes together.
Year 6 Camp
Year 6 Camp

Our Year 6 students had the wonderful opportunity to extend their learning of democracy by exploring our capital city, Canberra. They had the privilege of attending Parliament House, Government House (where the Governor General resides) and many more incredible destinations.
Our students also had the special honour of taking part in the Last Post Ceremony at the Australian War Memorial, with two of our students, Amyra and Arzoyi, presenting a wreath as part of the service. The girls did an amazing job, with the rest of our Year 6 students on hand to represent our College proudly and respectfully.
The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion, the Australian Government is contributing funding to our school in the amount of $30.00 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion.

Drop-Off and Pick-Up Reminders - Kellyville Campus
Drop-Off and Pick-Up Reminders - Kellyville Campus

We kindly remind families that students should not be dropped off before 8:00 AM , as supervision is not available prior to this time. The only exception is for students connecting with the College Bus Service.
At Kellyville, all students are expected to be at school by 8:25 AM to allow time to settle, organise materials and line up ready for classes to begin at 8:30 AM. Students arriving after 8:25 AM must go through the front office to collect a late note.
Being on time supports student wellbeing and helps develop positive social skills such as responsibility and organisation.
Pick-up Procedures - Junior School
We would also like to share a few helpful reminders regarding our Junior School afternoon pick-up procedures at Kellyville. These processes help us ensure a safe, efficient and positive end to the school day for both students and families.
Students in Kindergarten to Year 4 finish their school day at 2:40 PM and will then make their way to the car pick-up lines, bus waiting area (until 3:07 PM), after-school care or their external provider class.
For students being collected by a parent or carer, we kindly ask families to keep the following in mind:
• Students should remain seated with their bags until their name is called and a duty teacher escorts them to their vehicle.
• Parents and carers are asked to remain in their vehicle while in the pick-up line, with students entering from the passenger side to support safety in the car park.
• To assist duty teachers in calling students promptly, parents are encouraged to display a clearly visible sign with their child's name on it.
Parents are welcome to create their own sign or use the template provided below.

Thank you for your ongoing partnership and support in helping us maintain a safe, efficient and caring environment for our students each day.
