Welcome
What a remarkable way to finish Term 3.
What a remarkable way to finish Term 3.
The final week of term captured so much of what makes Hills Adventist College special. While our Year 12 students celebrated the culmination of their schooling journey through Graduation, Valedictory and a week filled with memories, laughter and reflection, our Year 11 students stepped beyond the classroom and into service.

Across Sydney, students partnered with community organisations, retirement villages, Junior School programs and local initiatives, choosing to invest their time and energy in supporting others. At the same time, another group of Year 11 students travelled to the Solomon Islands, where they continue to serve during the holiday break. Whether close to home or overseas, our students are learning that leadership is not simply about influence but about serving others with humility and compassion.
As I watched Year 12 cross the stage at Graduation and Year 11 step into opportunities to make a difference, I was reminded of the words of Jesus in Mark 10:45: "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve." The week was a beautiful picture of students both celebrating where they have come from and discovering how they can contribute to the world around them.
As families enjoy a well-earned break, thank you for your continued support of our students, staff and College community throughout another busy and successful term. We pray that the holidays provide time for rest, connection and renewal, and we look forward to all that Term 4 will bring.

Chaplains Corner
Chaplains Corner
Term 3 is always a bit crazy for everyone. There are events like Hearts and Harmony and Creative Collective, school camps, excursions and, of course, Year 12 Graduation.
One particular event that may fly under the radar for many families outside of Year 11 is their Service Week. In my time as a chaplain, I've seen this week become quite pivotal in shaping our students as they prepare to head into Year 12.
Some of our students head to the Solomon Islands for a mission trip, while others stay here and participate in local service projects. We'll share more about what both groups have been up to in a future newsletter, but for now, I want to focus on why this kind of service matters to our school.
Volunteering can have a significant impact on young people's character development and wellbeing. An article from the American Psychological Association states:
"Volunteering and performing other acts of kindness boost happiness and reduce depression and anxiety—benefits driven by feeling more connected to others.
"Kind acts toward others outperform self-focused interventions in helping people feel less depressed, less anxious and more satisfied with life."
It's interesting when current research seems to catch up with something the Bible has been saying for thousands of years. Paul writes:
"In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'" —Acts 20:35
Paul understood that serving others doesn't just benefit those being served… it changes us as well.
And Jesus took this even further. He said that He "did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many" (Matthew 20:28).
If Jesus (the Creator and King of the universe by the way) was willing to humble Himself and serve others, then no act of service is beneath us.
We want our students to catch this vision: to see the impact that serving others can have, both on their own lives and on the world around them. And this doesn't have to wait until Year 11. There are opportunities to serve all around us.
So, why not start looking for ways to serve others together as a family? Look around your neighbourhood, your school or your community and find a way to help someone else. You might be surprised by the difference it makes, not only for them but for you as well.
Grace and peace.

Kindy Boat Expo Challenge - Castle Hill Campus

Last week, we had our PBL Boat Expo at the Castle Hill campus. We presented the boats we designed and built to different classes and our parents.
It was exciting to explain how we made our boats, the ideas behind our designs and the challenges we faced along the way. We enjoyed showing everyone our hard work and seeing the different boats created by other students.
The Boat Expo was a fun and rewarding way to share what we had learned through our PBL project. We were proud of our boats and enjoyed celebrating our achievements with our school community and families.
Keep a lookout on our socials for more photos and highlights from the Boat Expo! 📸

Kindy Boat Challenge - Kellyville Campus

Kindy students have been busy learning through an exciting Project-Based Learning (PBL) challenge! Building on their Science unit about materials, students were challenged to design and build their own boats.
They carefully selected materials to make their boats waterproof, help them float and carry a small object. Students then put their designs to the test, evaluating which boats floated and successfully carried their cargo.
It was wonderful to see their creativity, problem-solving and perseverance in action. We are very proud of our Kindy learners and all they achieved through this exciting hands-on challenge!

Hills Grammar Poet Laureate Competition 2026 – "Every Voice is a Star"
A single bird is quiet, a single light is small
But when we come together, we rejoice in all.
Some call out like the eagle across the mountain peak.
Their words are strong and powerful whenever they chose to speak.
They are born to be leaders, uplifting one another.
Their voices call all the parts to sing together.
For everyone is worthy and every voice a star.
Some chirp like the lorikeet with secrets soft and sweet
They tell a gentle story to everyone they meet.
They kindle our curiosity and empathy.
Encouraging us to come together in harmony.
For everyone is worthy and every voice a star.
Others are like the patient owl, who think before they call.
They ponder and sort becoming the bravest voice of all.
They are with us through every step, leap and flight.
On winds of respect our future is bright.
For everyone is worthy and every voice a star.
So how do you use your voice? To hoot, chirp or tweet?
Calling for rights or thanking for treats?
Every warble is like a tiny spark, shining from each nest.
It's energy, from dawn to dusk, makes our Hills the best.
For we work together as one community and every voice is a star.
Year 8 Outdoor Education Camp
Year 8 Outdoor Education Camp

Year 8 recently headed to Douglas Park for an unforgettable Outdoor Education Camp, set among the stunning Nepean and Cataract Rivers. The days were filled with adventure, teamwork and plenty of opportunities to step outside our comfort zones.
The high ropes courses challenged students to overcome nerves, trust their teammates and reach new heights. With plenty of encouragement and support, students pushed themselves to try new things and take safe risks.
Away from the activities, camp was also about building friendships, sharing plenty of laughs and creating memories that will last well beyond the week.

Year 12 Senior Fun Week

Our Year 12s wrapped up their final week of classes in style, dressing up as iconic duos and trios on Monday and senior citizens on Tuesday in celebration of their school journey and the connections they have made along the way.
They took their creativity to another level on Wednesday with "Anything But a Bag" Day, swapping their school bags for a range of unexpected alternatives, including a trolley, a BBQ, a laundry basket and even a bike basket.
With plenty of pink outfits (on Wednesday) and lots of school spirit on display throughout the week, it was a fitting way for our Year 12s to celebrate their final days together, create lasting memories and enjoy some well-deserved fun.

Year 12 Graduation Chapel

Last week, we celebrated our Year 12 students at a special Graduation Chapel. It was a meaningful time of praise and worship and community, with our Year 12s leading us and being joined by their family and friends as we marked this important milestone together.
The celebrations continued as our graduates made their way through a special "guard of honour", with students lining the path with colourful signs, necklaces, gifts and messages of encouragement, creating a joyful and memorable send-off.
It was a wonderful opportunity for our College community to honour our Year 12s, celebrate all they have achieved and wish them every blessing as they begin their next chapter.

This year, we are proud to celebrate 14 Genesis Students — students who have been part of our Hills Adventist College community since Kindergarten, or even earlier through our Early Learning Centre.
With more than 13 years of memories, friendships and experiences at the College, we recently interviewed our Genesis Students about their journey and reflections. The video was shared at the Valedictory Dinner as part of our Year 12 celebrations.
It was a wonderful opportunity to hear our students reflect on their time at Hills and see how they have grown throughout their journey.

Planning for staffing and resource allocation is now in progress as we prepare for the 2027 school year.

Fuel for Learning: Healthy Lunchboxes Matter
Fuel for Learning: Healthy Lunchboxes Matter

At Hills Adventist College, we want every child to be equipped for a successful day of learning, playing and growing. One of the simplest ways to support this is through a healthy, balanced lunchbox.
We understand that family life is busy and convenience foods can often be the quickest option. However, foods that are high in sugar, salt and unhealthy fats can impact children's concentration, energy levels, behaviour and readiness to learn throughout the school day.
Packing a lunchbox with a variety of nutritious foods such as fresh fruit, vegetables, wholegrains, dairy and protein-rich snacks can help children stay focused, engaged and energised for learning. Even small changes can make a big difference.
If you are looking for inspiration, we encourage you to explore the NSW Government's helpful resources on Healthy School Lunchboxes and Crunch&Sip Ideas.
Thank you for partnering with us to support the health, wellbeing and learning success of every child. Together, we can help our students develop healthy habits that will benefit them both at school and beyond.

Drop-Off and Pick-Up Reminders - Kellyville Campus
Drop-Off and Pick-Up Reminders - Kellyville Campus

We kindly remind families that students should not be dropped off before 8:00 AM , as supervision is not available prior to this time. The only exception is for students connecting with the College Bus Service.
At Kellyville, all students are expected to be at school by 8:25 AM to allow time to settle, organise materials and line up ready for classes to begin at 8:30 AM. Students arriving after 8:25 AM must go through the front office to collect a late note.
Being on time supports student wellbeing and helps develop positive social skills such as responsibility and organisation.
Pick-up Procedures - Junior School
We would also like to share a few helpful reminders regarding our Junior School afternoon pick-up procedures at Kellyville. These processes help us ensure a safe, efficient and positive end to the school day for both students and families.
Students in Kindergarten to Year 4 finish their school day at 2:40 PM and will then make their way to the car pick-up lines, bus waiting area (until 3:07 PM), after-school care or their external provider class.
For students being collected by a parent or carer, we kindly ask families to keep the following in mind:
• Students should remain seated with their bags until their name is called and a duty teacher escorts them to their vehicle.
• Parents and carers are asked to remain in their vehicle while in the pick-up line, with students entering from the passenger side to support safety in the car park.
• To assist duty teachers in calling students promptly, parents are encouraged to display a clearly visible sign with their child's name on it.
Parents are welcome to create their own sign or use the template provided below.

Thank you for your ongoing partnership and support in helping us maintain a safe, efficient and caring environment for our students each day.
